Norway, Lofoten

Lofoten offers a wild and beautiful landscape. Let yourself be seduced by nature, the fjords, picturesque small villages, the breathtaking mountains that plunge straight into the sea and the whole spectacle that is on display. If you want the chance to experience the midnight sun and northern lights in the most fabulous spot, you have found the right place.

The farm is located on Gimsøy on the outer side of Lofoten by a white sandy beach and the sea on one side and the majestic mountain peaks on the other.
Here you are welcomed by Frode and his team of 10 - 15 employees. Frode has grown up on the farm that has been run by his family for several generations over several hundred years.

The farm is one of the oldest places in Lofoten with ancient remains from a long time ago. The site has boat piers, a god farm and graves from the Viking Age. The Viking Tore Hjort is believed to have had his chieftain's seat here over 1,000 years ago. He is mentioned in the Viking saga and was killed by King Olav Tryggvasson during the Christianization of Norway. You will hear stories about Tore Hjort and other Vikings during your stay here.

On the Trail Ride in the Footsteps of the Vikings, you get to ride among mountains with wonderful views, enjoy the white beaches and learn a little about the geology and animal life on the island and see relics from the Viking Age. One day you ride to a farm that runs a diverse farm with its own cheese production, herb garden and various animals. Back at the farm in Gimsøy, you are treated to tasty and local food rooted in the farm's history and food traditions.

Farm café and restaurant
The old barn (Låven) has been tastefully rebuilt and renovated into a farm cafe and restaurant. The ambition is to create an informal, genuine and relaxing place with tasty and local food anchored in the farm's history and food traditions. It also serves very good coffee and good home-baked cookies.

Full board from day 1 in the evening, with sandwich lunch on full-day excursions and 2-course dinner in the restaurant in the evening, the program ends after breakfast on day 6. Drinks are not included in the meals.

The northeast side of the barn has large glass windows with a view of the white Hovstranda, the midnight sun and the northern lights. The neighbour Anne has made the beautiful and very solid tables from hundred-year-old wood from a local house. The lamps in the ceiling are the original milk jugs from the farm. In the project, a lot of time and resources have been invested in managing the construction of the building itself. The fine lighting in the ceiling complements this and creates a unique atmosphere. The high ceiling also gives a special atmosphere. The original building has been preserved, while being modern with insulation, ventilation and a heating system to keep guests warm and happy in all seasons. A large glass fireplace and soft retro furniture create a pleasant atmosphere even during dark winter evenings. Here you can enjoy a good meal, with a beautiful view, or just relax by the fireplace with a good book and beer from Lofoten.

Weight limit: 95 kg.

Golf

It is possible to come along as a non-rider and, for example, play golf at the Lofoten Golf Links, which is only 1 km from the farm.
