Riding Experience


These different levels of riding experience are a guide for the experience that is preferred for the different tour destinations. Many of the destinations accept riders with different levels of experience, which is stated in the link to this page.

Outdoor Riding (incl Trail Rides)

Level 1: You have tried riding before
Level 2: On a stable horse you can walk, trot and gallop over different terrain
Level 3: You can ride different types of horses independently and are in good physical condition


Cross-Country Jumping

Level 1: You have not sat on a horse before or only tried riding a few times. Beginner
Level 2: You can ride a horse independently in all gaits outdoor.
Level 3: You are a very experienced rider and can jump a full showjumping course.
Level 4: You have also tried cross country jumping.
Level 5: You can jump different kind of cross country fences e.g. water, drops, steps.


Jumping

Level 1: You have not sat on a horse before or only tried riding a few times. Beginner.
Level 2: You can ride a horse independently in all gaits and have tried jumping.
Level 3: You have experience of jumping the occasional fence.
Level 4: You can jump a simple course.
Level 5: You can ride a course with different distances between fences and different


Dressage

Level 1: You have not sat on a horse before or only tried riding a few times. Beginner.
Level 2: You can ride independently in all gaits in an arena.
Level 3: You can get a horse to work on the bit and perform basic dressage movements, e.g. leg yielding.
Level 4: You can execute several different movements, e.g. shoulder in, travers, flying change
Level 5: You can ride a horse in collection and can execute several different dressage movements.
