Spain, Andalucía Trail Ride
Andalusia is a fascinating part of Spain. This region borders two seas while being secluded from the rest of Spain by high mountain ranges. It has a mild Mediterranean climate, beaches and salty seas as well as high mountains, genuine historic towns and last but not least, the Andalusian horse.
Here in Andalusia, we can offer you a fantastic trail ride.
Costa de la Luz is the part of Andalusia located west of Gibraltar. Small whitewashed villages and beautiful beaches are interspersed along the coast and it is mainly Spanish tourists who come here. There are mountains, plains and vast beaches where horses are allowed to stretch out at a full gallop. That was why Joseph, originally from Germany, chose to settle down here about 20 years ago.
You will be picked up at Malaga airport. After a couple of hours’ drive the landscape starts to change, fewer and lower rise hotels and the scenery opens up. Once you arrive, waiting for you will be a nice welcome dinner and you will get to know your guide and the other riders.
After a good breakfast the following morning, you will be driven out to the farm right on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
The trail ride begins with a beach ride, and later you ride through herds of grazing sheep, goats and even bulls. The road is lined with cork trees, olive groves and sunflower fields. On another day, you will ride along paddy fields and see storks and tortoises.
After a few days, you will reach the sea again at Zahara los Atunes where you get to enjoy long sandy beach gallops. On clear days, you can see all the way to Africa.
This is a lovely week with fun and exciting riding and a great atmosphere.

Hot in the summer, pleasant in spring and autumn and cool in winter. Even during the hottest summer months, it is not too hot to ride when the air is very dry and there are beautiful breezes from the Atlantic Ocean. Obviously, you will be riding early in the morning and late in the afternoon with a siesta in the middle of the day when the sun is at its highest point. It can rain at any time, but it does so rarely in summer. It rains mainly from late October to early May, but even if it rains, the sun will make an appearance during the day. The sea is nice to swim in from May to October.
