Kenya - Ten Night Riding Safari
You will be picked up at your hotel in Nairobi or at the airport and driven to Wilson Airport where a domestic flight departs around 10:00am to Siana Springs. It is a very beautiful flight over the fertile Kikuyu Highlands and the beautiful Great Rift Valley. At the airport you will be met by a car and driven on a 1 hour journey to the camp. You can enjoy a good lunch and then get to know your horse on an evening ride. Overnight in Olare Lamun.
A full day of exploring this remote area and its wildlife. Car trips, horse riding and walking can be done starting from the camp. Overnight at Olare Lamun.
The ride starts early and this is the trail ride’s longest day, 50 km (31 miles). You ride across vast open plains with herds of zebras, giraffes, gazelles and there is a great chance to see elephants and buffaloes, as well. You will camp at the edge of the Masai Game Reserve in late afternoon. Around the campfire you will probably hear lions and hyenas and the presence of wildlife is very noticeable. Overnight at Olare Orok.
Two full days of morning and evening rides from camp, you also have the option to drive in the Jeep to get nice close-ups. From the jeeps you can get closer to lions, elephants and buffaloes than you would on horseback. Overnight at Olare Orok.
You ride further west across the Mara Plains. Hopefully you can cross the river where many wild animals tend to do the same (if not flooded). Thereafter, further south over the Mara Triangle where you will have your picnic. You head up the Soit Olololol Plateau and reach the camp located which is located on a hill that overlooks the entire Mara ecosystem. Overnight at Soit Olololol.
You ride southwest along the top plateau and are treated to amazing views. Hopefully you will meet Mrs. Ross and Schalows Turaco and a lot of wildlife. You descend from the plateau on foot along a rocky cattle track and have a picnic in the shade of acacia trees at the plateau's edge. After lunch, you ride back through the Mara Triangle at the plateau's edge. There are many buffalo herds here. Overnight at Soit Olololol.
You ride once more down the plateau and the river following the tracks of the wild animals. Now you head northwest. After lunch, you reach your final camp by the Mara River Nearby, hippos and their special sounds make this evening unforgettable. Overnight Mara River.
After breakfast you will leave the camp and drive to Deloraine via the impressive Kericho tea plantation. You arrive at Deloraine in time for dinner and then take a walk around the beautiful garden. Overnight Deloraine.
