Greece, Crete - Panorama Ride
If you want, you can stay at a fine hotel all week. Every day you head off on different rides to different directions. Your rides can include visiting the ancient city of Lyttos with its two churches and a cozy picnic lunch under the olive trees. Another day you can ride to the village of Kera located 800 (2,600 ft) meters above sea level and enjoy a good lunch at the Greek tavern, Niki. No two days are ever the same and you spend 3-5 hours in the saddle each day. In addition to riding, you have time to sunbathe, swim in the pool and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the surroundings. It will be both an active and relaxing week.
You start at the equestrian center and ride in a new direction each day. You explore the valley and mountains around the farm and experience both the natural and cultural offerings of the area. Some days you will have picnic lunch with you that you can buy at a restaurant.

Day 1 Arrival
Arrive in Crete and transfer to the small village of Avdou. Here you are invited to a welcome dinner and you will stay overnight.
Day 2, about 4 hours riding
On the first day, you will ride to the remains of the ancient city of Lyttos that is located high in the mountains where there are excellent views of the Kastellis Valley. Lyttos was a rival to the more famous town of Knossos. After a visit to the area that is not excavated you ride along the remains of the aqueduct. Lunch under the olive trees.
Day 3, about 4 hours riding
Today you will ride through the valley and up the Sfendili to Mochosplatån. On the way you will pass the Byzantine church in the village Avdou. Up on the plateau there is a chance for a fast gallop and from here you can see the Psiloritis Mountains where with the highest peaks reach 2500 (8,200 ft) meters above sea level.
Day 4, about 4 hours riding
In the winter of 2015 the Langada Valley, closed by a man made dam, filled with water creating a 3 km long lake. The water attracts all kind of birds and animals creating a very special biotope. You follow the lakes edges and ride along the abandoned village of Sfendily, which is now half sunken into the surface of the water.
Day 5, about 2.5 hours riding
The day begins with a tough climb up the mountains from where you get a beautiful view of the Langada Valley and the equestrian center. You will ride through the oak forests and visit a mysterious church. This is not just any church, it lies deep in a cave within the rock. You will of course stop and visit the cave and the church during your ride.
Day 6, about 5 hours of riding
Today we ride through Goines Valley where your climb begins. The destination is the small Greek village Kera situated 800 meters (2,600 ft) above seal level. In the village, you will have lunch at a restaurant before you begin your climb back to the equestrian center.
Day 7, about 3 hours of riding
On the last day, you ride through a very quiet and peaceful valley where there are lots olive trees growing. You also ride along a cypress forest and there will be a lot time descending into the valley. But at this stage, you trust your horse completely, so it will be no problem at all.
After breakfast you will transferred to the airport.
