France, Showjumping in Bordeaux
If you want to practice showjumping in lovely setting, this suits you. The English pair, Jacki and Johnny, have chosen to live in sunny France, just outside Bordeuax. They are both trained British Riding instructors and Johnny has also competed internationally at the highest level. Come stay and train with them on their ex-competition horses and schoolmasters. This is a very exclusive training center when they take only two or three riders each week.
Jacki and Johnny's charming farm is located just outside Bordeaux. Jackie is an enthusiastic and very motivating instructor who has taught showjumping for 30 years. She has trained riders from beginner level up to international competition standard. Johnny has also competed internationally at the highest level and he regularly trains riders in England. All classes are taught by Jackie and Johnny, ensuring high quality. You ride on the big outdoor arena that is 30 x 80 meters (100 x 260 ft).
Accommodation & Food
The new accommodation has a large studio room, with en-suite shower/toilet. Double bed and double sofa bed, so ideal for 1 person, a couple, or 2 friends. 2nd bedroom, double bed with adjacent shower/toilet suitable for a single traveler.
The breakfast consists of coffee / tea, croissant, bread, eggs, yogurt. Lunch is not included, but there is a supermarket about 10 minutes away where you can buy snacks, or you can choose to dine at a local restaurant. The dinner is homemade and is a fish or meat dish, salad and dessert. You will also be served a glass of fine wine. Dinners provide an excellent opportunity to continue discussing your riding and jumping technique, so you can really understand what you are going to improve or focus on.
Are you two riders you will get separate rooms, if you are more than 2 it will be shared rooms. There will be a single traveller supplement if it would just be one person booked. Hair dryer is available.
There are about 12 horses They are very well trained both in showjumping and dressage. Four of the horses have jumped 130 cm (51 in) and higher. The others are trained to 100-120 cm (39-47 in).
During the week you ride a total of 10 sessions. There will be intensive lessons in flatwork and showjumping over about 60 minutes per session. You can try out a horse that suits you. The focus is on teaching effective systems for jumping, so you will gain confidence and be more successful both in training, competition and jumping your horse at home. This is accomplished through individualized and progressively more advanced training with two or maximum three students at a time. During the hot summer months, you usually ride a double pass in the early morning. You are welcome regardless of previous experience: maybe you get to jump too little at the riding schools at home or are a little afraid of heights? Whatever the reason, with these very well trained horses and the excellent teaching you will develop. In the evening, you are invited for a good meal in the French style.
