France - Beach Ride in the Medoc
The ride starts through the great wineries of the Médoc and continues through beautiful pine forests to then out onto the Atlantic coast where you can enjoy fantastic beaches.
This is an area that just breathes history and is known for its good food. Médoc covers about a third of the Gironde (the northwestern part). It has the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Gironde River Delta on the other and the huge Landes Forest with its pine trees stretching as far as the eye can see. Médoc is primarily known for its vineyards, but the landscape has enormous variety, from the swamps of the lower Médoc to the great beaches of the Atlantic where the ocean mixes with water from the Gironde River. There are also a number of lakes (Hourtin, Carcans, Lacanau) running from north to south and the Gironde Islands (Green Island, New Island, Paté Island ...) like green dots between the two banks of the estuary.
