Lena is happy to rent you a fully equipped hunting lodge. The lodge is located in the middle of a 1000-hectare (2,500 acre) forest at the edge of the Slieve Aughty Mountains. It is quite isolated and it is 3 km to the nearest village. The cottage is a very pleasant rustic wooden house with high ceilings, exposed beams and a large fireplace.
As part of the cottage package, you can rent one or more horses. You will be shown a number of good bridle paths and you can ride when, where and how long you want. It's wonderful scenery and you are riding distance to the supermarket and cafe / pub. The cottage is an ideal starting point for wonderful day rides and other outdoor activities such as golf, fishing and hiking.
The cottage is set in a 1000-hectare (2,500 acre) private forest adjacent to the national park. You will be shown a number of good bridle paths. You can ride to the nearest grocery store about 3 km (2 miles) away. There are lakes nearby where you can rent a boat and go fishing, including trout fishing. Portumna Golf Course is about 12 kilometers (7 miles) away. Woodford is located about 3 kilometers (2 miles) from the cottage where there are shops and pubs. On weekends the pubs often have live music.
